BASED in south-central Thailand by the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is a colourful resort and small city (pop.400,000) that is an easy 2hr drive south of Bangkok. There are two principal beaches here, Pattaya Beach and Jomtiem but linking these and beyond is the prettiest series of smaller, sheltered beaches.
